From the family to you!
I grew up in this wonderful home and neighborhood until I left for college. My parents, who both worked at UC Berkeley, bought the home over 50 years ago, and my mother lived here until 2022 when we moved her closer to us.
My parents chose the home for the views of the Bay and the garden, which was a must-have for my mother, a plant pathologist.
I have so many fond memories in this home.
My mother’s annual Easter parties which ran for over 40 years became “famous” in the neighborhood for the egg hunts through her garden in full bloom with tulips from her native Netherlands.
Music was always being played at the piano in the living room and my mom enjoyed hosting dinner parties.
Over the years my mom welcomed many international students and professors into her home through the UCB program. Speaking 5 languages, my mom was the perfect host and it brought such fun into our home.
Mom was an avid birder and hung feeders throughout the garden to attract her favorite birds. She enjoyed watching her birds, and sunsets, from the front porch and her bedroom until her last days at home.
This Berkeley Hills home has been a gem to us. My brother and I grew up walking the little paths linking the neighborhoods, up to Kensington, down to Solano Avenue for great food, and Indian Rock for sunsets.
We spent weekends and birthdays at Tilden Park (the Little Farm, merry-go-round, Lake Anza), or at the Lawrence Hall of Science.
This was such a great place to grow up and I’m excited to have another family enjoy it as we did.
